Campaign to Rebuild the JCFC Office

JCFC's office was burned to the ground by the Almeda Fire. We have continued to operate our program, while we proceed with the reconstruction of our building.

The Jackson County Fuel Committee (JCFC) office was entirely destroyed by the Almeda Fire on September 8, 2020, and we have continued to operate our all-volunteer self-help efforts seven days a week in donated space generously provided by First Presbyterian Church of Phoenix. This temporary office provides a place for volunteers to hold advocacy sessions for members who need assistance to prevent utility shutoffs or gain reconnection of disconnected service while the reconstruction of our building is proceeding daily.

We are not only reconstructing a physical building, a permanent home for JCFC’s programs and activities, but also working to bring stability and hope to JCFC’s membership base.

The loss of JCFC’s building presented our volunteers with daunting challenges, but JCFC quickly established two temporary offices and continued operating seven days a week to ensure that benefits and referrals would be available to those in need.

Rebuilding our office is going to make an enormous difference in JCFC’s ability to continue our work of fighting for affordable energy for working people while we demand government policies that guarantee this and policies that fight global warming and the conditions that caused the Almeda fire that destroyed our office.
