JCFC’s uniquely successful method of systemic organizing enables anyone who cares and is willing to work to join in building an organization to end policies that keep us poor and destroy our communities.
JCFC volunteers learn from experienced grass roots organizers how to:
Run
utility advocacy sessions to stop utility shutoffs by utility companies.
JCFC trains volunteer advocates in working together with JCFC members to negotiate with utilities threatening shutoffs and with agencies responsible for providing assistance to prevent shutoffs, obtain reconnections and ensure access to affordable, clean energy as a human right.

Coordinate
woodcuts and firewood deliveries providing alternative fuel sources to hundreds of low-income families.
JCFC volunteers cut and deliver firewood, the only affordable source of heat for many, and also a clean and renewable source when taken from sustainably managed forests and efficiently burned, according to the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of the United Nations.

Organize
community mobilizations to demand government accountability and prevent profiteering utility rate increases.
JCFC needs your help to stop rate increases by for-profit utility companies with the acquiescence of state regulators. Learn organizing skills to fight policies that promote utility profiteering at the expense of people and the planet.

Write
design and distribute the JCFC newsletter Ye Olde Saw, to spread the news of JCFC victories and programs.
JCFC needs experienced and apprentice desktop publishers, photographers, and writers. JCFC welcomes submissions from members on topics of community concern.

low-income homes to cut heating costs and reduce the household’s carbon footprint.
JCFC volunteers get training in how to make homes warmer and more energy efficient through weatherization improvements for JCFC members who are low-income.

about sustainable forestry through participating in forest resiliency projects.
Volunteers assist in doing selective thinning to sustainably harvest firewood as a locally produced, renewable energy source, while mitigating the danger of wildfire on the local woodlands.
